WHAT IS IEEE 519-2014?
IEEE-519 is a system guideline for setting limits on voltage and current distortion, by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a non-profit professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation related to electricity.
The IEEE-519-2014 standard details the recommended practices and requirements regarding harmonic control in electrical power systems. It defines the specific and separate responsibilities for each participant – utilities and users – to maintain the voltage THD within acceptable limits at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) between the utility and the user, and protect the user and utility equipment from the negative impact of harmonics.
