If decay or an infection gets into the nerve of a tooth, root canal treatments are necessary. To save the tooth, the nerves, germs, pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), and any decay are removed. The empty space is then filled with medicated dental materials that make the tooth work normally again. Know more about RCT in Chembur.
A root canal is the best way to save a tooth that would otherwise die and need to be removed. Many think that pulling out a tooth that isn't working right is the answer, but what they don't realize is that it will cost more in the long run and cause major problems for nearby teeth.
Root canal therapy works very well and generally lasts a lifetime. However, sometimes, a tooth will need to be treated again because of new infections.
A dentist or endodontist (a root canal expert) can do a root canal procedure, which usually takes more than one visit.
A rubber dam, which is a sheet of rubber, will be put around the tooth while it is numb to keep it dry and spit-free. A hole is made in the top of the tooth to allow access. Then, a number of root canal files are put into the holes one at a time to remove the pulp, nerve tissue, and bacteria. Special dental tools will also be used to remove any tooth damage.
After it has been cleaned well, the tooth will be fixed with either a permanent filling or, if more appointments are needed, a temporary filling.
On the next visit, usually a week later, unique dental products will be used to fill and seal the roots and the inside of the tooth. A filler will be put on top of the tooth to cover the hole. Also, every tooth that has had root canal therapy should have a crown (cap) put on top of it. The tooth will be protected, won't break, and can do its job again.
Your tooth may still be painful after treatment, but this will disappear as the swelling and the tooth heals.
