3. Tides and Swamps
Utilize Tidal Zones: Tidal zones can be tricky to navigate, and pursuers may find themselves stranded or slowed by the rising and falling tides. If you're near a coastal area with significant tidal influence, lead your pursuers into these zones at the wrong time (for example, during low tide when the water is shallow), forcing them to navigate slowly or get stuck.
Swampy Areas and Shallow Waters: Areas with shallow waters or swamps can slow down larger ships. These zones are more difficult for large vessels to navigate, especially if they’re not designed for shallow water. By guiding pursuers into these zones, you can cause them to struggle while you make a quick getaway in deeper waters where your ship is more agile.
4. Navigational Buffs and Debuffs
Buffs from Environmental Features: Some regions may offer navigational advantages. For example, passing through a specific zone may provide a temporary speed boost or shield your ship from damage. Recognizing and exploiting these buffs allows you to get ahead of pursuers and navigate difficult areas more efficiently. Keep an eye on these buffs to plan your escape routes.
Debuffs to Slow Pursuers: Certain environmental features can also apply debuffs to Skull and Bones Items enemies, such as areas with high waves or strong winds that make it harder for pursuers to maintain their speed or direction. You can steer your pursuers into these hazardous zones, forcing them to slow down while you maneuver away from danger.
5. Explosives and Environmental Traps
Explosive Materials and Barrels: In some locations, you may find explosive barrels or other materials that can be shot to trigger an explosion. These explosions can disrupt the pursuit, either by damaging pursuers or creating obstacles in the water. You can use these environmental resources to set traps for pursuers, buying you time to escape.
Breaking Docks or Structures: If you’re near a dock, pier, or other man-made structures, use the environment to your advantage by causing destruction. You can shoot at specific objects to create obstacles, such as debris or smoke clouds. This disruption will make it difficult for your pursuers to continue their chase without risk, allowing you to escape or create distance.
6. Wildlife and Hostile NPCs
Use Wildlife to Disrupt Pursuit: In certain areas, wildlife such as sharks or other hostile sea creatures may pose a threat to ships. You can lure pursuers toward these creatures, forcing them to divert their attention or even fight off the animals. This will slow them down and give you time to escape.
Aggressive NPC Ships: Some regions are populated by hostile NPC factions or other pirates. You can navigate towards these factions and lead your pursuers into conflict with them. The pursuing ships may get distracted by NPC enemies or buy Skull and Bones Items find themselves engaged in combat, providing you with an opportunity to flee while they are distracted.
